Prayer at John Calvin Presbyterian Church

In a 1995 interview, Eugene Peterson, author of The Message had this to say about prayer,

“It's a life that you’re immersed in. Prayer is the interiorness of our life in relationship to the God who has spoken to us. So deep within us there is a dialogic reality. God spoke life into being and we answer it. That is the way our life is. As our life enters this lively word, this revelation, prayer is living our life now in response to that. ... It is nurtured in those things, and we realize certain aspects of it during those times.”

John Calvin Presbyterian Church is committed to being a family of prayer.  There are prayer groups that meet at the church every Monday at 6:30 pm and Tuesday at 6:00 pm in the Parlor.  No invitation needed—just come and pray.

We also have an e-mail prayer chain.  If you have a concern or joy that you want your church family to be in prayer about—anytime of the day or night--you can submit it on this page or by calling the church office at 657-4441 or by e-mail at jcpresbyterian@sbcglobal.net

We also have a 24-hour prayer vigil every 6 weeks.   The prayer vigil will start at 6am on a Saturday and last through 6am on a Sunday.  Individuals are asked to sign-up for 30-minute blocks of time to pray at a time and place convenient for them.  If you need prayer suggestions, we always have some available.   The next 24-hour prayer vigil will begin at 6am on Saturday, October 24th.  Sign-up after worship on October 11th & October 18th or by calling the church office.

When in worship, you will find yellow prayer request cards in the pew racks.  If you have a joy or concern that you would like or us to pray about, please fill out that yellow card and place it in the offering plate.

All prayer requests, joys and concerns are kept confidential within our prayer groups and/or pastors as requested.
